Optimisation falls into four areas:

[1] Quick loading pages:

It can be a fine line between having a good looking site (with lots of images and other elements) and a website that is slow to load.

All of the images are optimised for quick loading and we have no large scripts which sap time and energy from the viewing device. (Large scripts can quickly reduce the battery life of a mobile phone).

[2] Good navigation:

That means the buttons and, or the ‘links, do what they are meant to do. This may sound obvious, but some websites have been designed (unintentionally) so that the search engines can’t move from page to page because the links are invisible to them!

We ensure that all the pages can be indexed by search engines.

[3] Titles and content:

Getting the page titles and content right for not only the web surfers, but also the search engines. The layout and wording of the first page is crucial to keep the casual visitor interested and for search engine indexing.

[4] Adobe Flash:

Flash intro’s (animated video-like introductions) may seem very tempting and up-to-date, but have you ever visited a website only to see a dial slowly counting up to 100%? More often than not I have skipped the intro, or worse – have left the site!
Flash intro pages are particularly frustrating to surfers who haven’t got the software to see it and in worst cases they can’t even enter the website!

The first page (home page) is very important for search engines and if this is a Flash intro they cannot as yet access it – rather like having a newspaper without the front page. This is not search engine friendly and we avoid this.

Having said that, we do use Flash but in a controlled manner so that if your visitor hasn’t got the software to see the animation the page doesn’t disintegrate.
